On Monday, Sept. 25, Harris County Department of Education Head Start students at the Fifth Ward, Pugh, Dogan, Coolwood, San Jacinto and Sheffield centers received more than $10,000 worth of backpacks and school supplies including $100 for each of the 24 classrooms, donated by Houston-based business Plantgistix. Thanks to a generous donation from Plantgistix, families from six Head Start centers didn’t have to stress about school supplies this year.

“I believe everyone deserves an opportunity to grow,” Plantgistix CEO Marc Levine said. “All too often underprivileged children are not awarded the same opportunities.  They, and we live in the same community, therefore just like family, we at Plantgistix are honored and appreciative to have been given the opportunity to help meet the needs of others.”

“This donation from Plantgistix is even more necessary for the success of our students in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey,” said HCDE Head Start Senior Director Venetia Peacock. “We’re thankful to our community partners for filling a vital need in the Head Start community.”
